Palais Garnier Theatre
The Palais Garnier Theatre is located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. It was named after the architect, Charles Garnier. Built in the 1860’s and 1870’s, this amazing theatre has a seating capacity of 1,979. The Palais Garnier is one of the most famous opera house in the world. It was the home of the Paris Opera and the Paris Opera Ballet.
The building also has a Opera Library-Museum called the Bibliotheque-Musee de l’Opera de Paris. The museum has an unaccompanied tour that is included with the Palais Garnier Tour. Here are some pictures of the inside of the theatre.
Grand Staircase
Pictured below is the ceremonial staircase made out of white marble. The staircase comes together from the left and right sides that forms an entrance to the Grand Foyer.
Grand Foyer
This amazing foyer is 59 feet high, 505 feet long and 42 feet wide and was created for the Paris Society as a drawing room.
